Three ways to fix burnt pixels

Do any of your electronic devices have burnt or stuck pixels on the screen? Perhaps all is not lost.

Have you by chance noticed, on the screen of your PC, Mac, tablet , iPad , iPhone or smartphone, some black spots that “dirty” the screen image? Probably the screen of your device suffers from a few burnt pixels .

A pixel is the micro-cell of light that lights up and colors on the screen of any device for reproducing moving images (including televisions) based on an LED or L CD system , when it is switched on. When one of these particles is burned, it remains off and does not contribute to the definition of the images, leaving a small black dot in the middle of it. When a lot of pixels are burned, the screen can almost reach the limit of uselessness, forcing the owner of the device to costly repairs or replace the device.

But is it really all lost? In the following lines, we will illustrate some ways to regenerate the burned parts of the screen and return the screen of your device to full efficiency.

First of all, we need to establish a difference: one thing is the pixels that are completely burnt, and therefore useless, another are those that are simply stuck on a color, and perhaps recoverable. The problem is that when a pixel hangs on a very dark color, it can appear burnt on superficial examination, and lead the screen owner to an expensive replacement.

To settle the matter, here are some suggestions.

- The JScreen Fix site has the advantage of not requiring any installation. Just open the web page and take the test available. The site also offers a repair tool: just drag the repair slider to the damaged area or areas and leave it overlaid there for at least ten minutes. If the pixel is just stuck, the alternating colors of the cursor should revive it.

- PixelHealer software works roughly the same way, but with one major difference: it must be installed on your PC to work.

- A manual system consists in turning off the device, and wiping a damp cloth on it, in correspondence with the affected area. It is necessary to make a firm pressure on the point where the broken pixel is located, taking care not to crush - or at least not to crush too much - the surrounding ones. The pixel could come back to life, as the pressure should restart the liquid crystals contained within it.
