The Official State Gazette published this Monday the call for general scholarships for the academic year 2021-22 , from the Ministry of Education and Professional Training  (MEFP) and the Ministry of Universities, which will enter into force on August 3, and the call of aid for students with specific need for educational support (NEAE).

The budget for scholarships and study aid has increased by more than 128 million, to 2,038 million euros , in part, to include the entry of new beneficiaries as a result of the crisis derived from the Covid-19 pandemic , as reported the department directed by Pilar Alegría.

In this sense, the Ministry of Education has highlighted that it is the third consecutive year that its funding has increased and that, since 2018, the budget has risen by 39.6% and the number of beneficiaries by 24.5%.

In relation to the general call for scholarships , the deadlines for submitting applications are until September 30, 2021 , inclusive, in the case of scholarships for non-university students; and until October 14, 2021 for university students.

They can be requested until September 30 (non-university students) and until October 14 (university students)

According to the calculations of both departments, some 850,000 students will benefit from this call for general scholarships (390,000 for university education and 460,000 for non-university education). In the 2020-21 academic year, some 362,783 university students and 427,810 non-university students obtained these scholarships .

Among other novelties, this call increases the amount of the basic scholarship for students of Basic Vocational Training . This FP scholarship goes from 300 to 350 euros (the basic scholarship is the one received by non-university students who do not obtain a scholarship associated with income).

Extraordinary measures by the Covid

On the other hand, the approved one will be the grade necessary to obtain the scholarship to take the non-qualifying master's degrees . In addition, for students who are victims of gender violence , the requirement of accreditation by an educational authority that the applicant's lower academic performance is directly related to the violence suffered is abolished.

All the information on requirements, deadlines, amounts and procedures to be eligible for these scholarships and grants are available on the scholarship portal of the MEFP and the Ministry of Universities. Applications are obtained and presented at the  electronic offices of the MEFP .
