It often happens to scroll through the App Store in search of a new game that you can install on your iPhone or iPad and with which you can spend time on public transport. Or you urgently need an app for study or work reasons.
Maybe if you find an interesting one you can download, but here is a problem: a message warns us that it is not possible to install it due to compatibility problems .
Apps not compatible with iOS: what are they?
You should know that all the apps in the store are constantly updated to keep up with the new operating systems that are released regularly, and iOS is no exception. Apple's operating system is constantly being updated on its devices, but this can lead to stability problems for older ones ( iPhones and iPads suddenly becoming sloths slow, for example).
This, of course, happens to entice consumers to switch to newer models and to take older smartphones and tablets off the market.
A common choice by many users is therefore not to update iOS to the latest version . For example, those who find themselves in possession of an iPhone 5s will therefore continue to use it with an old iOS . Another matter for models like the iPhone 4 for which no more updates are planned.
When we want to install an app from the store, it is possible that it is only partially compatible with older versions of iOS, consequently the error message will appear and it will not be possible to download it
Apps not compatible with iOS: how to do it?
To download apps that are not compatible with the version of the iOS operating system of our device, you can follow these simple and quick steps:
- download and install the latest version of iTunes on the PC and connect the iPhone;
- log in to the iTunes store with the same account used for the App Store ;
- download the desired app from your PC.
- This will automatically be added to the My Apps list;
- passing the app on the iPhone, try to start the installation from there. The system will warn us that the present iOS is not compatible ;
disconnect the iPhone from the PC and try to install the app on the smartphone through the App store and at this point the system usually asks if you want to install an outdated version of the app.
This method appears to be effective with numerous apps, so it's worth trying. Obviously, however, in the event that the app you want was developed for the first time on a more updated iOS (eg iOS 8 ) than yours (eg IOS 7), this method will not work, simply because with iOS 7 that app wasn't there yet.
Apps not compatible with iOS: updates
It can also happen that an app already installed on our device presents compatibility problems following its latest update that made it compatible with the latest operating system. Again it is necessary to download and install previous versions of this app.
The process is very simple. Just access the App Store and view the list of apps purchased . Then click
on the required app and download an older but compatible version of the same. Using an outdated version of an app does not guarantee that all its functions, especially those online, are available or functional. For example, cloud sharing services will likely be absent. As for the offline functions, however, there should be no problems. The same incompatibility problem can also occur with Android applications .
